It all started the day after Usman dominated Tyron Woodley to capture the welterweight belt at UFC 235 in March when they had to be pulled apart when a confrontation ensued between Usman, his manager Ali Abdel Aziz and Covington at a buffet line the Palms Hotel in Las Vegas. From that point forward, there’s been constant trash talk back-and-forth, including an incident after Covington’s (15-1) most recent win against Robbie Lawler at the beginning of August. Usman was part of the post-fight show where Covington was being interviewed. With security surrounding them, Usman and Covington verbally sparred against each other until they had to be separated. Now they will meet to settle the score to determine who is the best welterweight in the UFC.Nunes and de Randamie are no strangers to one another, with the former winning by first-round TKO in November 2013.Since then, Nunes (18-4) has been on one of the most excellent runs in recent memory. She’s currently riding a nine-fight winning streak with seven of those coming by stoppage against the likes of Ronda Rousey, Miesha Tate, Cris Cyborg and Holly Holm. de Randamie’s (9-3) career turned around after the defeat. The Dutch striker has won five consecutive, including defeating Holm at UFC 208 to become the first-ever women’s featherweight champion. To earn the crack at Nunes and attempt to become a two-division world champion, de Randamie stopped Aspen Ladd in 16 seconds. Holloway (21-4) returns for the third time this year and go 2-0 in his natural weight class after losing to Dustin Poirier for the interim lightweight title at UFC 236 to snap his 13-fight winning streak. “Blessed” got continued his dominance at 145 pounds in July at UFC 240 with a dominant unanimous decision win over Frankie Edgar to extend his win streak to 14 at featherweight and defended his title for the third time. Volkanovski (20-1) rolls into UFC 245 on an absolute tear, riding a 17-fight winning streak with the last seven coming inside the octagon. The Australian solidified his status as the No. 1 contender with a dominant performance against the man most MMA pundits feel is the greatest featherweight of all time, Jose Aldo at UFC 237 in May.Top-to-bottom, UFC 245, is the most in-depth card of the year. Not only do you have three premiere championship fights, but you also have Jose Aldo making his debut at bantamweight against recent bantamweight title challenger Marlon Moraes and the guy who put the smaller weight classes on the map in Urijah Faber taking on top 135-pound contender Peter Yan to round out the main card.
